  1. I like what you had to say about the paradox of opposing viewpoints relying on each other for self definition. I like to think about opposing viewpoints coming from the same place. And what it means to walk on the middle path, to strive to go beyond pairs of opposites. Like heartthrob mythologist Joseph Campbell said “behind that duality there is a singularity over which this plays like a shadow game. Put your mind in the middle. Most of us put our minds on the side of good against what we think of as evil. If the world is a mixture of good and evil you do not put yourself in accord with it, you identify with the good and fight the evil.” No easy task Joe! I made it to the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear in D.C. a couple of years ago. Even though there was a liberal vibe in the audience, the overall theme was very “middle path” which was so refreshing. I felt Colbert was actually representing the absurdity of duality and Stewart wasn’t really playing his opposite but speaking on behalf of the middle path.
P.S. I always knew the Scarecrow had a thing for Dorothy! Or were you making an existential comment that only with the obtainment of a brain, of consciousness, comes desire.
